Real Cover For Business Owners
Who Need A Break

Business Owner Relief Cover gives your team a trusted point of contact while you are away, so they feel supported, the business stays steady, and you can focus on what matters most.

A real break starts with the right cover.

You have built the business. You have great people. But you know how much still comes back to you, and that is exactly why taking a real break can feel almost impossible. The phone stays close. The messages keep coming. The quick questions interrupt your day. And even when you are with the people you love, part of your mind is still back in the business.

A real holiday, for the first time in four years.

Hayden Coffey took his family overseas for a week, the longest he had been away from his business in four years. Here is how it went.

My family had their husband and dad back for a week.

Whatever the holiday cost, I would have paid five times that to have that experience.

"In four years of running the business, I'd never been able to truly step away. Taking a break felt impossible, managing cash flow, staffing, logistics, all of it sat with me. I was the final stop in so many processes. If something went wrong, I was the one who fixed it."

"My biggest worry going into the holiday was something going horribly wrong and being powerless to fix it. The team had a bit of fear too, fear of the unknown. They are all competent individuals, but they were apprehensive about expectation. Once they knew they could pick up the phone to Donna if something didn't go well, that was a big load off them."

"Day one of my leave, I was overseas. At 8:30am here in Australia I got a call. A new staff member had put the wrong fuel in one of the vehicles. Donna stepped in and managed the whole thing. She got a mechanic on board, contacted the insurance, sorted the invoicing. After that one call I didn't hear anything else. The team were instantly back on the road, money was being made. I went back to enjoying the holiday."

"The first couple of days were difficult. My brain didn't know what to do with the space. But that space put a lot into perspective, what was important, what could be left. I left the holiday with a much better understanding of how to slow down and how to manage that internal chatter."

"Being overseas with the family, giving that experience to the kids and to my wife, was invaluable. My favourite part was waking up without a schedule in front of me. Just being present. Knowing everything was in trusted hands."

Your questions, answered.

Logistics
How far in advance do I need to book Relief Cover?
Two to four weeks is ideal, so we have time to run a proper handover briefing and get to know how the business runs. Last-minute or unexpected leave can be arranged where availability allows, with the setup compressed into a few days.
Who actually answers my team's calls while I am away?
Donna Morrison is your point of contact across all levels. Your team has her direct number and a clear escalation path agreed before you leave. There is no call centre, no rotating staff, no surprise handovers.
Can my team contact you directly, or only through me?
Directly. That is the point. Your team has Donna's contact details from the handover onward, with clear guidelines on when to reach out. You stay in the loop through the agreed updates, but your team is not routed through you while you are trying to rest.
Do I need to be in Geelong for this to work?
No. Relief Cover runs by phone, video call and email, so it works regardless of where your business is based or where you are heading. Most check-ins and team support happen remotely. If your business needs an in-person presence during your leave, we can scope that into the engagement.
Can I use this for parental leave or a longer break?
Yes. Relief Cover is charged weekly, so it scales naturally to longer engagements. For extended leave of more than four weeks, we recommend a longer handover and a structured mid-point check-in. We can scope this as part of the planning conversation.
What if my plans change or I need to extend my leave?
Extensions and changes are quoted at the same weekly rate, no penalty fee. We adjust the cover to what you actually need, when you need it.
Pricing
What counts as active hands-on support versus the regular check-ins?
Check-ins are scheduled conversations to keep things on track. Active hands-on support is when something requires direct intervention, managing an incident, coordinating a supplier, dealing with a staff issue, sorting an insurance claim. Hands-on time is billed at $220 per hour and only when used, so you only pay for what the business actually needs.
What happens if the business is busier or quieter than I expected?
If the business is quieter, you simply pay the weekly cover and no hands-on time. If it is busier than expected and hands-on support is needed, those hours are billed at $220 per hour as they are used. You see every hour itemised so there are no surprises.
Trust
What happens if something goes wrong that needs a decision I have to make?
We escalate to you, but only when a decision genuinely needs you. Everything within agreed authority is handled, documented and reported on your return. The whole point is to protect your break, not to push problems through to your phone.
Is what we discuss during handover confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is standard across every engagement, and a written confidentiality agreement can be put in place on request. Everything we see and hear inside your business stays there.
